Activities and Entertainment at Whitchurch House, Herefordshire

At Whitchurch House in Herefordshire, life is lively, creative and full of shared experiences. Our activities and entertainment programme is at the heart of daily life, designed to help residents stay active, make friends and enjoy every day. Whether it is a gentle walk, a music session or an art project, there is always something enjoyable to take part in.

We believe that our care home in Whitchurch should be more than just a place to live. It should be a community where every resident feels valued, supported and inspired. Each activity is thoughtfully planned to promote wellbeing, encourage participation and celebrate individuality.

Everyday Activities and Familiar Routines

Many of our daily activities bring a comforting sense of routine and familiarity. Residents can take part in regular activities such as arts and crafts, baking, gentle exercise, quizzes, reading sessions and gardening.

We also offer pampering sessions such as hairdressing and chiropody appointments, helping residents feel their best. Our resident cats, Munch and Milo, bring extra comfort and companionship, and family pets are always welcome to visit.

Every activity is flexible and can be adapted to suit each person’s ability and comfort level. Whether someone prefers a busy group session or a quieter one-to-one chat, we make sure everyone feels included.

Special Events and Entertainment in Whitchurch

At Whitchurch House, entertainment is something we all look forward to. Residents have recently enjoyed live music performances, including a wonderful afternoon with Ray on guitar, which had everyone tapping along to familiar tunes. Visiting performers such as the Silver Swans dance group bring energy and fun into the home, with light movement and music sessions that everyone can enjoy.

We love marking special occasions, too. Our Macmillan Coffee Morning was a huge success, filled with cakes, quiches and community spirit, and we are proud to support such meaningful causes. Outings and events are also popular, from walks to the local St Dubricius Church for Holy Communion to visits to nearby cafés and gardens. These moments help residents stay connected with the wider Whitchurch community and enjoy the beautiful Herefordshire countryside.

Each event is carefully planned to ensure comfort, safety and enjoyment. These shared experiences create lasting memories, build confidence and strengthen friendships across the home.

Wellbeing and Personalised Care

Our activities and entertainment are designed to support every aspect of wellbeing. Whether through gentle movement, creative crafts, music or time outdoors, each activity contributes to a happy and healthy lifestyle.

Our team takes time to learn about each resident’s interests and background, so we can tailor activities to what they love most. Some enjoy lively events, while others prefer peaceful pursuits such as knitting, gardening or reading. Whatever their preference, participation is always a choice, never a requirement.

The aim is simple: to ensure every day at Whitchurch House feels meaningful, engaging and full of purpose.
